This detailed day-by-day itinerary follows the scenic and remote Northern Circuit Route — the longest and least crowded path up Mount Kilimanjaro. The 9-day plan includes additional acclimatization time to help ensure a safer, more successful summit.
Start at Londorossi Gate with registration and briefing. Trek through lush rainforest and bamboo zones on a gentle ascent to Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Hiking time: 3–5 hours | Habitat: Rainforest
Ascend from rainforest to moorland as you cross the Shira Plateau. Enjoy spectacular views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks while reaching Shira 1 Camp.
Hiking time: 4–6 hours | Habitat: Moorland
Trek a shorter, gentle route to Shira 2 Camp for better acclimatization. This extra day helps your body adapt before climbing higher.
