A unique blend of Tanzania’s coastal history and wildlife — explore the old-world charm of Bagamoyo and the wild serenity of Saadani, the only national park bordering the Indian Ocean.
This 5-day adventure combines cultural immersion with wildlife exploration. Walk through the historic streets of Bagamoyo, once a key trading port, then venture into Saadani — where elephants roam near the beach and hippos laze in the river.
Bagamoyo was once one of East Africa’s most important ports — a center of trade for ivory, slaves, and spices. Today, its colonial-era buildings, art centers, and museums offer a window into a complex and captivating past.
The town's name means "Lay Down Your Heart," a poetic reminder of the many who passed through during the slave trade era. It's a deeply historical and reflective stop before entering the wilds of Saadani.
Saadani is the only wildlife sanctuary in East Africa with an Indian Ocean beachfront. Located north of Bagamoyo, it’s accessible by road from Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo, making it a convenient and unique safari destination.
